Let’s face it, since the break out of the Coronavirus many of us sleep patterns are all off. For me personally I used to be in bed by 9pm and play “hey Google” relaxing music or sounds of the forest. When the world-wide pandemic of the Coronavirus hit I found myself staying up til 2am-3am in the morning. One time I watched Netflix from 6pm at night to 6am the next day. So I wanted to highlight 5 plants that are great for the bedroom to help you sleep well at night. Studies have shown that being surrounded by nature helps lower blood pressure levels and boost immune functions. It also purify the air you breathe.

Jasmine plant

Jasmine adds a nice aroma to the room .Results published online in the Journal of Biological Chemistry from professor Hanns Hatt’s work found that jasmine increased the GABA effect by more than five times and acted as strongly as sedatives, sleeping pills and relaxants. Inhaling jasmine transmits messages to the brain to calm down, and “chill out”, so that you can have a deeper, more restful sleep.

Lavender plant

Keeping a lavender plant on your bedside table will be sure to lull you into a deep sleep. It is the plant with the most well-known sleep-inducing aromas, and is known to slow down heart rate and lower blood pressure and stress levels . Lavender also decreases rapid-eye movement during sleep and reduces the time it takes to fall asleep.

Spider plant

Spider plants can clear up to 90% of formaldehyde from the air, according to the NASA study. Aside from cleansing the air, the spider plant will help sustain oxygen levels in the room, promoting better sleep.

Peace lily plant

Peace lily helps relieve allergy symptoms, which can relieve the irritation of dry noses and throats that may keep you up all night. It can increase humidity in a roomy up to 5%, thanks to the moisture of its flowers. This plant can grow quite big, so be sure to give it the space it needs!

Aloe vera plant

Aloe vera emits oxygen at night, making for a more restful sleep. It is also very easy to take care of, and if you forget to water it, it won’t die on you. Keeping aloe vera in your house is also useful if you happen to get cut or burnt. It also alleviates dry skin and provides relief from insect bites.

I hope this article helps you sleep better. Go out and buy a few to have in your room. For more check out

In this challenging time, we have created a beautiful connection with our homes. We have plenty of time for displaying our new innovative and creative skills, let’s end up utilizing it. As we are in our homes 24X7 a feeling of claustrophobic and restlessness is obvious, why not fight against it?

Stay home, Stay safe! Starting with the home itself, we are providing you with some basic ideas for giving a new and attractive look to your home.

Your home provides the first impression of your taste and choices, so it should be something that pleases everyone. Your home should be a reflection of your personality. Initially, you should make it clean and well-spaced, all the not utilized things that can’t be used anywhere should be discarded properly, or if reuse, can be utilized. Let’s have a general idea about every room design

Bedroom– It should be most comfortable of all. However, it can be hard to decorate a master bedroom that hits every note — a calm, organized retreat that helps you sleep without sacrificing your personal style and aesthetic. Start with your bed, if you’re going for a luxury look make sure to get quality bedding. Throw on the pillows, adding a few layers of pillows can make a room look stunning. Find inspiration of nature, using a barn door as a headboard, bringing in plants, adding artwork all of these can make a room stand out. To top it off, always add essential oil diffuser.

Kitchen– It is the most important part of the home. And should be properly cleaned, as it has a direct effect on one’s health. Whatever your style — modern farmhouse, clean and contemporary, preppy traditional — there are plenty of ideas. For decorating the kitchen, changes don’t have to focus on big renovations. Simple things such as staining the cabinets, changing cabinet knobs, throwing paint on the wall can make a big change. Storage is a must in the kitchen, you want to make sure you have adequate storage space. It does not have to be actual cabinets, you can have floating shelves, racks, baskets get creative. There are so many options you can do, you can go bold or go simple in the kitchen. By adding a pop of color can  make a kitchen pop, you can add a pop of color in tile, appliances- one time I saw an awesome yellow stove.

Living room– A place where all family members unite. This is one of the rooms that will be lived in often. Personally, I do not want a lot of stuff piled up in the room. I love for the room to have plenty of light. Have tall curtains in the room going from ceiling to floor, wood floors, sofa and two arm chairs. Think outside the box and create a cool coffee table. What I did was use a vintage chest and did penny art on top. I have a side table with a water fountain and essential oils going. The main thing for the living room is to make it comfortable and to not add too many things in the room. Adding live plants will make the room pop with life and fresh air.

Dress up the entryway– One way you can glorify the entryway is by placing a side table when one walks in .To make it more welcoming you may hang up some portraits over it, place some flowers in a beautiful vase on the table. Some modern art ideas can also go along with it. Create a seating area with storage space. Let’s not forget to add hand sanitizer in the times we are living in. I currently have a nice side table with beautiful flowers in a yellow tall vase with Melaleuca Aloe hand sanit at the door so when my family walks back in the home they know exactly what to do..

Home is an enjoyable happy place- where you can laugh, live, and learn. Make an effort to make it more lively for you and your loved ones. Everyone is unique and has the potential to bring the change, by thinking out of the box and exploring new ideas. I hope you create new ideas, and share it with others as well. Roseanna McCoy-Futch

FIJI- Pearl of the Pacific

Fiji’s Slogan is “Pearl of the Pacific”- couldn’t be more fitting. This volcanic archipelago in the southwestern Pacific Ocean is characterized by rippling, clear waters and is a fine island paradise in the truest sense of the term. Fiji is a beautiful.  It is made up of more than 330 islands and is surrounded by Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the west, Samoa and Tonga to the east and New Zealand to the south. Each of Fiji’s islands boast incredible landscapes. Lush tropical and pine vegetation is spread across the interior lands and white sandy beaches wrap around the coasts. Pristine blue-green waters house vibrant soft coral reefs and there are deep drop-offs, perfect for diving and fishing.

Fiji has a market economy based primarily on tourism and agriculture, the latter including a substantial subsistence sector dominated by indigenous Fijians.

Fiji has so many beautiful islands it’s for sure a destination that I would love to add to my travel list.

Tips to protect yourself from the coronavirus

The coronavirus is spread through respiratory vapor, such as when someone sneezes or coughs into the air around you. Influenza viruses and common cold viruses are also spread this way. The no. 1 thing you can do to prevent any respiratory illness is to practice good personal hygiene.

  • Wash your hands with soap or use a hand sanitizer that contains alcohol.
  • Sneeze and cough into tissues or the crook of your elbow. If you get mucus or spit on your skin, clean it off right away. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick, especially people exhibiting respiratory symptoms and fever.
  • Stay home when you’re sick.
  • Regularly and thoroughly clean surfaces, such as counter tops and doorknobs, with a disinfectant.
